Reproducibility of results obtained with indicatordilution technique for estimating cardiac output in man.

• Recent studies in our laboratory demonstrated strikingly different estimates of "central blood volume" by the indicator-dilution technique when two different arterial sites were sampled simultaneously. The cardiac output values, calculated from the simultaneous dilution curves recorded from the two different sites, often demonstrated unexpected discordant results. The present study was, therefore, undertaken to examine the reproducibility of the indicator-dilution estimate of cardiac ouput, utilizing simultaneous determinations from two sites.
